# MiniCard not working?

### **Understanding the Limitations of Linq Minicards**

---

#### **Overview**

The Linq Minicard is one of our most compact NFC products — designed for convenience and portability.
Because of its smaller size and design structure, it operates a little differently than full-size Linq Cards or Tags.

While Minicards function with the same **Linq technology**, they have **smaller NFC antennas**, which can affect read strength and consistency depending on how and where they are used.

---

#### **Common Limitations**

### **1. Reduced NFC Range**

- The minicard’s smaller antenna means it has a **weaker NFC field** compared to full-size Linq Cards.
- Phones may need to be held **closer** or at a **more specific angle** to detect it.
- This is normal behavior and not a sign of defect.

> 💡 **Tip:** Hold the minicard flat against the back of the phone rather than at an angle to improve detection.

---

### **2. Placement Sensitivity**

- NFC readers are located in **different spots** on each phone model.
- On **iPhones**, the NFC reader is near the **top ¼ of the device**.
- On **Androids**, it’s usually near the **center or middle-back area**.
- Placing the minicard in the wrong position (like near a phone case magnet) can block the NFC signal.

> 🧠 **Try this:** Move the minicard slowly around the back of the phone until the NFC scan registers.

---

### **3. Material Interference**

- **Metal cases, wallets, or lanyards** can block or weaken the NFC signal.
- If your minicard is attached to a **metal keychain or badge clip**, it may not read as easily.
- For best results, attach your minicard to **non-metal materials** (plastic, silicone, or fabric).

---

### **4. Limited Customization Area**

- Because of its smaller size, minicards have **less space for engraving or printed designs**.
- Only limited branding or logos may be available depending on your design and color choice.

---

#### **Best Practices for Reliable Scans**

✅ Hold the minicard flat against the back of the phone.
✅ Keep it away from metal surfaces.
✅ Test scan locations on both iPhone and Android to learn ideal placement, activate before applying to device..
✅ If using a case, try removing it temporarily to improve detection.

---

#### **When to Consider a Full Linq Card**

If you frequently use your Linq product in networking settings or public events, a **full-size Linq Card** may provide a stronger, more reliable tap experience.

- Full-size cards have **larger antennas**, improving **read distance** and **scan consistency**.
- They’re ideal for professional use, events, and high-traffic situations.

> 💬 **Need help?** If your minicard isn’t scanning properly after testing placement, reach out to our Support Team — we can review your setup and assist with a replacement option if needed.
